Rwanda Football federation, Ferwafa has slammed a life ban to striker DadyBirori, also known as TadyAgitiEtekiama after he told CAF that he was forced against his wish to play for Rwanda since 2009.
In his statement while being questioned by CAF Secretary General Hicham El Amrani over his dual nationality, Birori said, “I am requesting Fifa and Caf to tell Rwanda to stop calling me to feature for their national team,”
“I no longer want their money and I never wish to play for Rwanda again,” he added Birori who has played for Amavubi for the last four years and featured in seven international matches.
Asked why he featured for Rwanda against Libya and Congo, Birori said, “I requested them to rectify my identity which they didn’t and that’s why I never honoured the returned leg against Congo,”
The Ferwafa vice president VedasteKayiranga said over the weekend, “We will never call him again; a decision has been taken never to use such players because we have learned from his (Birori) case.”
Striker Birori/TadyAgitiEtekiama has been banned indefinitely from football by African Football Confederation (Caf), who also disqualified Rwanda from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers-Morocco.
Caf turned down Rwanda’s appeal against the disqualification from the group stage qualifiers that commences on September 5.
Birori, who was born in Kinshasa on December 12, 1986 received his Rwandan nationality in 2009 but also got a Congolese passport last year that indicates that he was born on December 13, 1990.
He scored a hat trick against Libya in the first round return leg match in Kigali in May after the North African side had won the game 2-0 in the first leg played in Tunis. The 27-year-old has made 19 appearances for Amavubi, scoring six goals.
