Starlets so close but so far

With everything to play for in the encounter, both Tanzania and Rwanda had the Division 1 in sight, the starlets had to win with a healthy run rate.

Tanzania won the toss and batted on a docile Lotus Sports wicket. They batted well and used up 48 of their allotted 50 overs to be bowled out for 221. Star of the batting were Adshan Jasan with 44, Shafil Kolo 37 and Goodluck Fardiken 37.

Rwanda faced an uphill battle and lost their wickets with regularity. They were not able to build up any momentum. This led to Rwanda being bowled out for 101 in the 36th over

Tanzania won by 119 run and secured their promotion to the Pepsi ICC Africa U19 Div 1.

In the other game hosts Zambia entertained Swaziland at the Metropolitan Sports Club for the last of their tournament batting first the Zambian opening pair put on an attractive 61 run partnership between Mario Nithyanthan (46) and Tristande Wet (13).

This was followed by a few more handy partnerships ending with Zambia been bowled out for 214 in the 46th over. SiphesihleTsabedze shining with the ball returning 4 for 39 in 6 overs.

Swaziland’s innings began before lunch and broke 32 in the six. The story after lunch changed dramatically when Tarun Sandeep walked past the straight one for 32.

Swaziland then lost wickets regular intervals. Jonathan Chisembele, Mishek Malama and Chetan Reddy all picked up three wickets.Swaziland was bowled out for 114 in the 37th over giving Zambia win of 100 runs.
