Rwanda’s U-19 Cricket team set for Africa tourney

The junior cricket team captained by Don de Dieu Mugisha is set to take part in the African division 2 tournament as it aims at qualifying for the junior world cup set to be held in India in 2017.

The junior team aims at surpassing last year’s performance where they finished third and qualify for the division 1 tournament that will also double as the final world cup qualifier.

Rwanda’s best performance was a second place finish in the 2010 tournament in Swaziland where they finished a close second. Only the winner of the seven team tournament will qualify to join the five division 1 teams for the final chapter.

Bowler Tuyisenge Orchide is set to lead the bowling attack for the team led by Ed Pearson and former national team player Julius Mbaraga.

The team comprises of Dieu MugishaTuyisenge Orchide, Clinton Rubagumya, Eric Niyomugabo, David Uwimana, Tuyizere Adelin, Valens Muvunyi, Tuyizere Bosco, Wilson Ndayambaje, Arsene Muganineza, Zappy Maurice Bimenyimana, Freddy Ndayisenga, Komezamuheto Jean Paul and Charles Karasira.

The winner of the Division 2 tournament will qualify for the ICC Africa U19 boys Division 1 tournament that will take place next year and will meet countries like Uganda, Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria

Meanwhile the annual INAR cup played to commemorate the Indian Independence day reaches its final stages this weekend with Indorwa cricket club taking on Kerala Hunters at the Kicukiro cricket grounds starting at 8:30 a.m.
