Rwanda Football Federation officials depart for Cairo, Egypt on Monday ahead of the Wednesday’s meeting with the CAF Appeals Board, seeking to overturn the ban imposed on Rwanda for fielding a player with dual nationality.
President Vincent Nzamwita, Secretary General Olivier Jean Mulindahabi and Lawyer Emmanuel Ndagijimana leave for Cairo on Monday afternoon.
CAF on Sunday, 17 August 2014, banished Rwanda over the use of an ineligible player, Daddy Birori over double identity.
On July 20 in Pointe-Noire, Rwanda used EtakiamaAgitiTady/Daddy Birori, who has Rwandan and DR Congo nationalities but with different date of births.
Congo was subsequently consigned to Group A as replacement for Rwanda, joining Nigeria, South Africa and Sudan for the final phase of the qualifiers.
Birori has been suspended until further notice and banned from playing for any club or the national team.
