Nyinawumuntu calls for league to be competitive

After lifting the sixth women football league title over the weekend, AS Kigali coach Grace Nyinawumuntu said she thinks the women’s football league is not competitive as shown by the continued domination by her team.

“The other clubs are not as aggressive as us; we reached another unprecedented unbeaten record after slashing Kamonyi by 4-0 in their last game of the season,” she said. “We have a strong competitive team and actually we were not happy to win by only four goals.”

“The reason why we continue winning trophies is because we have good coaching staff, a nice playground, fans who always behind us and all that is necessary for a club to win,” Nyinawumuntu added.

Despite of losing to 8-2 to the Super Falcons of Nigeria, the AS Kigali coach who also manages the women’s national team said that all clubs need to be aggressive for both the national league as well as She-Amavubi to improve.

All the women clubs were grouped in two pools, the winners of which battled it out for the title.

Kamonyi WFC defeated Inyemera to finish top of Group A with 25 points while AS Kigali beat Winners in Group B.
