Muhanga district representatives GS Nyabisindu and Rubavu’s GS Kanzenze emerged winners of the 2014 Copa Coca Cola youth championship in the boys’ and girls’ categories.
Groupe Scolaire Nyabisindu were crowned the boys’ champions after winning 4-3 on penalty shoot-outs following a 1-all draw against Ruhango in regular time, while GS Kanzenze clinched the girls’ title after beating Huye 2-1.
The semi-finals of the three-week long Bralirwa- sponsored Under-17 championships were held on Saturday.
Normally, after the annual youth competitions, the two best players of the edition are selected to represent the country at the football stars boot camp in South Africa.
This year’s impressive youngsters have already been shortlisted from which the two will be chosen.
Last year, Dominique Savio Nshuti, who currently features for Isonga FC and Mustafa Nsengiyumva, who plays for Etincelles FC, represented the country.
