Luis Suarez is the red-hot favourite to win PFA Player of the Year and it certainly looks to be a dead cert when you consider that even Patrice Evra has voted for the Uruguayan striker.

According to both the Sunday Mirror and the Sunday Times, Evra has acknowledged the Liverpool star’s achievements this season despite the ugly race row between the two players back in 2011.

In case you’ve been in a coma these last few years, we will remind you that Suarez was banned for eight matches after being found guilty of racially abusing Evra during a Liverpool v Manchester United match at Anfield back in October 2011.

The feud continued when Evra extended an arm to shake Suarez’s hand before a match in February 2012 – only for Suarez to snub the France international and invoke another tsunami of condemnation.

While last season, while celebrating United’s 20th league title, Evra decided to celebrate by grabbing a fake dismembered arm and pretending to take a great bit bite out of it. That none-too-subtle gesture was obviously a jibe at Suarez who had caused widespread disgust in the football world the previous day for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm

So it clear the two players do not like each other, but Evra has taken a ‘credit where credit is due’ outlook to the PFA award.

An Old Trafford source told the Mirror: “Suarez is an outstanding footballer, but no-one at United could believe it when Patrice voted for him.

“It shows the measure of the man that he didn’t allow what happened between them to cloud his judgement.

“He clearly doesn’t bear a grudge.”

Suarez is up against Liverpool team-mates Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge for the PFA Player of the Year Award. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Manchester City’s Yaya Toure and Southampton’s Adam Lallana are also on the six-man shortlist.

Suarez has been the most devastating player in England this season scoring a barely believable 29 goals in 29 games as well as accumulating 12 assists – both of which are league-high figures.
