The Ethiopian Football Federation’s (EFF) change of tune continued on Friday when they announced the appointment of Portuguese Mariano Barreto.
It concludes an intriguing few weeks that saw EFF appoint Barreto then revoke his appointment just days later and invite Serbian Goran Stevanovic for talks but the talks collapsed earlier this week.
“We have appointed Barreto and he will be arriving in Addis Ababa on Sunday to take over the appointment .We agreed with him on the remuneration and he has also agreed that we can appoint an Ethiopian assistant coach to be his under study. I know Ethiopian fans have been eagerly awaiting the appointment of a coach but now it has been confirmed after the exhaustive search for the right man to take over from Sewnet Bishaw,” a top EFF official, who sought anonymity, told supersport.com.
Barreto arrived on Sunday to put pen to paper and take over the reins of Walia Ibex.
