Barclays English Premier League clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have expressed interest in securing the services of Nigeria international midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi.
Both Barclays English Premier League big hitters are keen to make a swoop for the SS Lazio midfielder at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in Serie A, with a host of impressive performances, and reports monitored in Italy say Liverpool have been following his progress closely.
The Liverpool Boss, Brendan Rodgers, it has been reported, has already made it clear to Lazio that he will make a bid for the Nigeria international in the summer, but Tottenham have now joined the race.
Just days after Onazi confirmed his desire to play in England, it is thought that Spurs’ director of football Franco Baldini has made contact to discuss a move.
Onazi has stamped his authourity in the Lazio this term with the Sky Blues perched on 8th spot in Serie A with 42 points from 30 matches in Serie A this term.
Lazio have 14 registered midfielders for their 2013/13 Serie A campaign but only one, Antonio Candreva has made more league appearances (29) than the Nigerian who has played 24 times in the league for the Biancocelesti this term.
While things have been going smoothly on the pitch for Onazi, the midfielder has been quick to add that he has put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to see his game get to an appreciable level.
“The Italian League is very difficult. It is even harder for younger players but I thank God for his grace which has helped me succeed so far.
“Things have been going well for me and I am pleased for that,” Onazi exclusively told supersport.com.
Onazi has been capped 18 times by Nigeria since making his senior debut in 2012.
