RWANDA’S national women team, She-Amavubi are expected to face Zambia’s Shepolopolo in a friendly match aimed at putting them in fine shape ahead of the final qualification round 2014 African Women’s Championship scheduled for Namibia in October.
Grace Nyinawumuntu’s outfit will face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the final qualification round in late May.
The Ferwafa spokesperson Vedaste Kayiranga said on Thursday, “The She-Amavubi promises a lot and it is our responsibility to prepare them in everyway possible. We believe a friendly match against a superior team like Zambia would help them to prepare for the tricky and challenging match against Nigeria,”
“We are going to make an official request and hopeful the match will be played in early May,” added Kayiranga.
The She-Amavubi sealed her place in the final round after coming out unscathed in the second leg match of the first round of the qualifiers.
They lost 2-1 to hosts Harambe Starlets of Kenya but went through on CAF’s away goal rule following their 1-0 win attained in the first leg.
Rwanda will host the Super Falcons in the first leg set to be played in Kigali on May 24 while the second leg will be played in Lagos on June 7.
The would-be expected friendly match opponents ShePolopolo beat Tanzania to set up a inal round clash against neighbors Zimbabwe who also ousted Botswana.
Seven teams will emerge from the qualifiers to join hosts Namibia for the final tournament from 11-24 October, also a qualifier for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
