Former Rayon Sport coach Didier Gomes da Rosa helped Coton Sport overcome Burundi’s Flambeau de l’Est to secure progression into the second round of the CAF Champions League.
After losing 1-0 in Burundi in the first leg, Coton Sport easily went through with a 5-0 victory on their home turf of the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua.
Forward Ephraim Yosanguim opened the score in the 21st minute to put both teams on equal footing on aggregate.
Then Niger international Daouda Kamilou made it 2-0 less than 10 minutes later to put the Cameroonians ahead.
Midfielder Moussa Souleymanou scored the third of the afternoon in the 72nd minute and former Sewe Sport striker Rostand Kako sealed the deal for the ‘Cotonculteurs’ with a brace in the last quarter of an hour (77th and 90th minute).
Coton Sport will meet Algerian side ES Setif in the next round of the continental competition.
