Celestine Ntagungira Abegga
Defending champions Rayon Sports have again endorsed Celestin Ntagungira Abegga to stand for the president’s post of Rwanda Football Federation, Ferwafa for another five-year term.
The development was confirmed by Rayon Sports Secretary General olivier Gakwaya who was also endorsed by the club to vie for the Marketing officer position of the football body.
Gakwaya said on Tuesday, “We have endorsed Abegga to enable him finish some of the projects that he was pursuing in as far as developing Rwandan football is concerned,”
Apart from Abegga, former Ferwafa chief, Jean Daniel Mbanda [Unity], Augustin Munyandamutsa [SEC] and Degole Nzabamwita [Intare] have also confirmed their interest to vie for the position.
The final list of all candidates will be known on December 20 as the deadline to submit their documents is on Wednesday.
Elections for the new executive committee of Ferwafa will be held on January 5, 2014.
Abegga has been the interim president since 2011 when he replaced Maj. Gen Jean Bosco Kazura who tendered in his resignation after Amavubi’s 5-0 loss to Cote d’Ivoire in a Nations’ Cup qualifier
