The national soccer team Amavubi will open up their Group C encounter against defending champions Uganda in the 2013 Cecafa Challenge Cup due to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from November 17 to December 12.
Group C is undoubtedly the group of death with defending champions Uganda, Rwanda and Sudan all with the capacity to battle for the top spot. Eritrea are the Group C minnows.
Rwanda has also been pooled alongside Sudan and Eritrea. The match between Rwanda and Uganda will be played on November 29 at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.
Eric Nshimiyimana’s squad will again be in the field on December 2 against Sudan before winding up the group stage action against Eritrea on December 5.
Both teams will be facing each other after a goalless draw in a Fifa match played on November 16 in Kampala.
Elsewhere, Harambee Stars will kick off their 2013 CECAFA campaign against high riding Ethiopia’s Walias on 27th of November. Kenya has also been pooled alongside Zanzibar and rookies Southern Sudan.
The match between Kenya and Ethiopia will kick off the tournament at Nyayo stadium on 27th November.
Ethiopia who made it to the final round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers are expected to pose the biggest challenge to coach Adel Amrouche boys as their current campaign in the final round against Nigeria will put them at a good place as potential stubborn boys as they have always been especially when facing Kenya.
In Group B, guests Zambia will have Tanzania to worry about. Other teams in the group are Burundi and Somalia.
