Bernard Karuga, who was the lucky winner of the Airtel Rwanda’s Dunda promotion, is an excited man after landing a coveted ticket to go and watch an English Premier League match between Arsenal and Chelsea on December 23, at the Emirates stadium in London.
Karuga from Gacurabwenge in Kamonyi, who is also an Arsenal fan, emerged winner in the transparent draw that took place early November.
Dunda promotions required Airtel customers to only SMS or calls 155 and answer the asked questions. This enabled them accumulate points which would later usher them into the draw. The promotion attracted entries from participants across the country.
Airtel Rwanda’s brand and communication manager John Magara said at the handover ceremony that Dunda promotion offered customers a unique and much sought-after experience when they win an all expenses paid trip to the Emirates to watch Arsenal FC.
Visibly excited Karunga, a 39 year old mechanic said that he entered the competition with little expectations.
“I didn’t expect to win but I am a die-hard Arsenal fan and a ticket to a game costs a lot of money, so I am really glad I have won this opportunity,” he happily said.
Airtel and Arsenal FC signed a three year partnership agreement, a deal that provides Airtel with the opportunity to utilize the club’s merchandising, hospitality and content rights in five countries of Nigeria, Zambia, Ghana, Uganda and Rwanda.
Arsenal FC will also support the Airtel Rising Stars football program, an annual multi-country grassroots soccer initiative that offers young boys and girls the opportunity to play, compete and showcase their talent to selectors in their respective countries.
