Rwanda Football Federation vice president Raoul Gisanura will be seeking re-election into the Cecafa executive committee when the elections set on today on Tuesday at the Cecafa annual congress in Nairobi, Kenya.
All the heads of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations [Cecafa] are expected at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.
The Cecafa President, Leodegar Tenga, was already in Nairobi. Although he will be in office until 2015, all members of his Executive Committee will be standing down but most will be offering themselves up for re-election.
There are several member associations that have witnessed change of leadership lately including in Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.
On the opening day of the competition at the Nyayo National Stadium, the second fixture [4.30pm] pitting home team Harambee Stars against Ethiopia is expected to be a big draw. The opener at 2pm is between Zanzibar and South Sudan.
Group ‘A’ [based in Nairobi and Machakos], opens the action when Kenya take on Ethiopia at the Nyayo National Stadium on November 27.
Apart from Nairobi, Machakos will host some of the group stage matches while other venues, Mombasa, Kisumu and Mumias, and maybe Nakuru, will host some knock-out stage matches. The Final will be in Nairobi.
