Bonus for Elephants to oust Senegal

Ivory coast

Ivory Coast football federation has promised each player of the national team 9 million CFA francs ($18,000, R187, 000) if the team edge Senegal to qualify for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

Both West African teams will face-off in the second leg playoff at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco on Saturday November 16.

The Elephants hold a 3-1 lead from the first leg played in Abidjan last month, but the Teranga Lions French coach Alain Giresse has vowed to overturn the deficit and topple the highly favoured star-studded Ivorian outfit.

Ivory Coast coach Sabri Lamouchi will be doing without three key players: injured defenders Boka Arthur of VfB Stuttgart and Montpellier’s Siaka Tiene, with Newcastle captain Cheick Tiote facing suspension.

Senegal did not invite Chelsea striker Demba Ba despite calls from local pundits to include experienced players in the squad to face the robust Ivorian team.
