DEFENDING champions Rayon Sports is eager to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to Police when they face a stricky away test against Espoir in the sixth round of the Turbo King Football League scheduled for this afternoon in Rusizi.
Head coach Didier da Rosa Gomes said yesterday that his side will be out to capitalize on the poor performance exhibited in their previous encounter against Police where they lost 1-2.
“We have to play smart targeting to bag all points from the match. Espoir play well but we won’t allow them to overrun us. The strategy is to bring the game to them and be able to return back with maximum points,”
Without striker Kambale Salita who went AWOL (Away without official leave) and is currently featuring for DR Congo’s AS Vita club. The French tactician will rely on Meddie Kagere and Samson Jakeshi to deliver goals.
However, the Nyanza-based club should expect a harsh reception from Said Abedi Makasi led side which defeated Rayon Sports 3-0 in the second leg tie last season.
The club which is placed third with eleven points, one point ahead of their rivals is under the tutelage of Coach Emmanuel Ruremesha.
Ruremesha stated that his club’s ambition has always been to maintain perfect record at home and hope for any result away.
“We are facing defending champions who should not be taken lightly but winning this game remains to be our top priority. We have had fair performances both at home and away and we hope to maintain this record. The players are playing with passion and ready for the title.
Rayon Sports will miss the services of central defender Hussein Sibomana who is suspended for today’s match.
Elsewhere, sixth-placed Mukura with nine points face fourth-placed APR who have ten points at Kamena stadium. Coach Cedric Kaze who is optimistic on snatching maximum points against the military side has been deprived of two key players Hussein Cyiza Mugabo and Hamidu Simpenzwe who received two accumulated yellow cards against Esperance last week.
Bottom placed clubs AS Muhanga and Amagaju clash in Muhanga as both sides seek to get themselves out of the relegation zone with five matches played so far.
SC Kiyovu who secured their first victory of the seaspn last week against Amagaju travel to Rubavu for a tricky tie against Marines who are placed tenth with four points.
Jean Baptista Kayiranga’s Gicumbi which has faced tough oppositions since the season got underway host league leaders AS Kigali in another tricky encounter. AS Kigali has won four matches and lost once while Gicumbi has lost three matches and drawn two and Kayiranga’s mission this season is to win all home matches and hope for any result away from home.
Gicumbi will miss Francois Hakizimana who is serving a one-match suspension.
Musanze placed second travel to Kigali for a date against Esperance due at Mumena turf while Sam Ssimbwa’s side, Police will all be out for maximum points against Etincelles at Stade de Kigali.
AS Kigali is seated at the summit of the league standings with 12 points while Amagaju are ranked bottom of the table with no point in five matches played so far.
