Mugina and Rukoma sectors’ men’s football team have been selected to represent Kamonyi district in the forthcoming competitions to mark 25 years of existence of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF).

The RPF Silver jubilee celebrations are already in high gear and similar events are currently being held through the country. According to the chief organizer Sheikh Abdul Karim Harerimana, that the preps will cost at least Rwf300millions and

During the men’s football final match, Mugina sector won the completion after netting a sole goal into the Rukoma defense. The Mugina team was awarded with a medal cup and Rwf800.000 prize.

Mugina sector was also equally awarded the same prize in the women’s category, after the Rukoma sector ladies thumping rival team Nyarubaka sector in a 4-0 goal win.

Apparently Rukoma (men) and Nyarubaka (women) also come in the second category winning prizes of Rwf500.000 each in the competitions.

The RPF chairman in Kamonyi district, Gonzague Bizimana, thanked the teams for the good turn up and distinguished sportsmanship, and used the opportunity to encourage the youths to strive for development of the community as streamlined in the RPF memorandum .

Member of Parliament, Hon. Pierre Claver Rwaka was the chief guest at the event, representing the RPF secretariat. Rwaka said that the Kamonyi team should display the same spirit of sports during the national competitions.

He particularly hailed the women’s team for displaying a good game and said that the party organized such event to celebrate the achievements of RPF in Rwanda in the last 25 years.

Selected teams from various districts will compete against each other, and the final will be held during the Jubilee celebrations on December 15, 2012 at Amahoro stadium.
