Rwanda’s U-20 team face a challenging moment of maintaining their good campaign when they face Mali in the return leg of the second round of the Africa Youth Championship qualifier set to be played this evening in Bamako.

The junior wasps who only need a draw to be assured of qualification to the final round have vowed to turn the tables against Mali.

Head coach Richard Tardy is optimistic that the national team will put on a good display and will have no room for boo-boo.

“We will be aiming for a win in tomorrow’s (today) game. We can’t play for a goalless draw, we must keep our defense tight as we seek scoring options upfront,” said Tardy.

With the arrival of Salomon Nirisarike, Tardy is not worried at all on the services that Nirisarike will bring to his team.

“Having Nirisarike in the team is an added advantage in our quest t the second leg tie. I trust him and he has brought morale to the team in general,” added the Frenchman.

In the first leg, Rwanda squeezed a 2-1 victory over Mali courtesy of second half goals from Emmanuel ‘Crespo’ Sebanani and Patrick Umwungeli.

The winner, over the two legs, will face either Lesotho or Zambia in the final qualifier before the finals in Algeria next year.

Seven qualifying teams will join hosts Algeria for the 2013 AYC finals.
