Inkuba Boxing club emerged victorious at the just concluded Rwanda National Boxing Championship 2012 at Lycee de Kigali in Kigali. The three-day event which brought together four clubs from the country was attended by the federation’s president Mr. Cyatwa Ngarambe as well as other officials from the federation that include Gashugi Kananura, its technical director.
Inkuba boxing club which scooped a total of 12 points was followed by Kimisagara boxing club that garnered 9 points. Kigali Life Boxing Club and Remera Boxing Club came third and fourth with 7 and 0 points respectively.
Also awarded was best loser of the competition, Ishimwe Fabrice who received a trophy as well as a six-month supply of SULFO Rwanda industries’ products. The prize for the best boxer went to Shingiro Olivier who received a trophy plus a one-year supply of SULFO Rwanda industries’ products.
And speaking after the event, the president for Rwanda Amateur Boxing Association Cyatwa Ngarambe, said that such tournaments shall be organized in the future to prepare adequately the boxers for upcoming boxing events.
He said, “It is not just about winning, but it is also learning as well. Such competitions serve to prepare players for major tournaments and we shall continue to do that to prepare our boxers.”
He thanked organizers of the tournament as well as all participating clubs that attended the event. He also thanked SULFO Rwanda Industries that was their main sponsor. The championship kicked off Friday 29th June to 2nd July.
