After a shaky 2011 season and a slow start to their 2012 season, Challengers seem to have rediscovered their form after a strong start in the Zaafran/Okapi T20 tournament.
The two-time Sulfo league champions made it two wins on the trot after thrashing Indorwa by ten wickets.
Zakir Hussain was the architect of the win after picking four wickets for 19 runs to restrict Indorwa to a paltry score of 71 runs.
In reply, Sairum Gopalan scored a brisk 50 runs to maintain Challengers’ perfect start. Evode Mutuyimana finished unbeaten on 12.
Challengers now top the table with four points followed by Right Guards, Impala and Victory on two points apiece. Like Indorwa, KCC are yet to get off the mark after losing their opening match against Impala.
The record four-time Sulfo league champions crushed to a 28-run defeat on Sunday.
Chasing 141 runs, KCC seemed to be cruising after amassing 89 runs for the loss of one wicket inside the first ten overs but a spectacular bowling spell from Eric Niyomugabo (four wickets for 2 runs) inspired Impala to a much-needed win at Kicukiro cricket ground.
Action continues this Saturday when Impala take on Victory followed by two thrilling contests on Sunday; KCC against Challengers and Right Guards hosting Indorwa.
