Rwanda cycling team is expected to travel to Eritrea where they will attend this year’s edition of Tour of Eritrea that is slated for 30th May to 3rd June. This is one of the agenda that has been set up by the management of FERWACY, Rwanda’s cycling governing body in order to prepare the athletes and develop the sport in the Rwanda.
The team consists of six players namely: Byukusenge Nathan, Ruhumuriza Abraham, Habiyambere Nicodem, Hadi Janvier, Biziyaremye Joseph and Rudahunga Emmanuel. Also in the delegation is Coach Jonathan Boyer and Obedi Ruvogera who is the team’s masseur. The whole delegation is expected to leave the country on Friday 25th May at midnight. Of notable absence is Adrien Niyonshuti of of South Africa’s Team MTN Qhubeka because he’s training ahead of the London Olympics having secured the required minima.
The tournament is the third international event that team is going attend after impressing in both Tour of Morocco and La Tropicale Amissa Bongo.
The team is expected to meet other tough opponents in Africa including Eritrea the host country and Morocco that have always provided a hard time for Team Rwanda.
Tour of Eritrea, which is a multiday bicycle race, is part of the Africa Tour and is class 2.2 on UCI international rankings. Its route is a 700 mile race contended in 10 stages.
