ENERGY Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) has entered into a partnership with the Rwanda Volleyball Federation to sponsor the national league to the tune of Rwf15 for the coming season.
The money will cover expenses to buy the trophies, team’s transportation, organisation fees and prize money, and the league, with immediate effect will be called ‘EWSA Volleyball National League’.
The Water Treatment Plant Manager in Muhanga, who is also in-charge of Volleyball in EWSA, Antoine Sebalinda said recently that the main purpose for coming on board is to help the development of the game in Rwanda.
Sebalinda said, “EWSA wants to be a partner in developing volleyball in the country, and although we haven’t signed the contract yet, the will and commitment are there for both parties”.
He added the one-year renewable contract will be signed in the coming days.
The national volleyball federation vice president, Philbert Mutwarasibo, said that although the money is not enough to help all teams in the league, there were hopes that it will go a long way in helping to manage the league and facilitating the teams’ transportations to and from league matches.
“This is a good opportunity for our league, I hope it will help improve the game and also in the stability of our teams,” Mutwarasibo said.
