Eight African countries will battle for honours when the African continental women beach volleyball tournament kicks off on May 22-26 in Rubavu district, Northern Province.
The Rwanda volleyball federation Technical Director Christian Hatumimana named the countries as South Africa, Morocco, Algeria, DRC, Morocco, Mozambique, Kenya and hosts Rwanda.
Rwanda’s team of six players that include Emilienne Uwineza, Judith Hakizimana, Denise Mutatsimpundu, Charlotte Uwimana and Jeanette Iragena has been training in Kimihurura for the past couple of weeks.
But the federation is trying to do their best and move them to Rubavu, venue for the continental event so as to get full acclimatization until the tournament starts in which Rwanda wants to finish winners so as to qualify for the summer’s London Olympic Games.
The tournament is also set to attract top CAVB officials, including its president Dr Elwani Amr and Madam Maya who is in charge Beach Volleyball.
The tournament’s winner will represent Africa at the summer’s London Olympic Games.
