The city of Rubavu will be treated to entertaining volleyball matches as this year’s African continental women beach volleyball tournament kicks off on 22nd May in Rubavu at Palm Beach Hotel. The tournament will attract eight countries in and outside the region.
Rwanda, the host country has named a strong squad, mainly consisting of players that have returned from the just concluded Africa volleyball cup club championships in Nairobi Kenya. They include Emilienne Uwineza, Judith Hakizimana, Denise Mutatsimpundu, Charlotte Uwimana and Jeanette Iragena All seems set for the tournament to kick off as the eight contesters with qualification for the London Olympics at stake. Other than Rwanda the host country, other participants include: Kenya, Congo, Algeria, Mauritius, Morocco, Tanzania and Mozambique.
The tournament will also be attended by top CAVB officials, Africa’s volleyball governing body, who include its president Dr. Elwani Amr and Madam Maya who is in charge of beach volleyball. The tournament will last for five days.
