For the 2nd time, the Rwanda Independent Sports Press Network [RISPN] have commemorated players, coaches, teams’ administrators and sports fans who were killed in the 1994 genocide against Tutsi.
This function that was prepared by the Rwanda Independent Sports Press Network (RISPN), all sports journalists in Rwanda with the support of leaders in the Ministry of sports and culture (MINISPOC) and CNLG; visited Kiziguro memorial site on the 12th April 2012.
After visiting the genocide memorial, they also visited the football academy that is in Kiziguro, encouraged them while setting a goal to get on a high level in foot ball.
After this journey, sports reporters spent a night to commemorate at Amahoro National Stadium in Remera where a film about players, coaches, referees and fans of sports that were killed in April 1994 was shown.
In the vigil night which was at the petit stadium, testimonies were given by those who knew sports fans and also words of encouragement to those who lost their loved ones in the genocide.
In a way to ensure time to time remembrance, the sports men, the Rwanda Independent Sports Press Network (RISPN) with the support of the Ministry of sports and culture (MINISPOC) are going to build a memorial site for sports men though the site for the building is not yet set.
