Nathan Byukusenge and Nicodem Habiyambere finished 43rd and 44th respectively during stage 4 of the ongoing Tour du Maroc in Morocco. The result is one of the worst so far, especially for Nicodem who had finished 5th during stage 2 of the tour whilst Abraham Ruhumuriza had finished 11th during the same stage to put Rwanda in a strong position in overall classification.

It was double delight for Arran Brown of South Africa who made two straight wins at yesterday’s stage 4, a 144km stretch from Khénifra to Midelt clocking 28:41, while he had won the previous stage 3 from Fes to Khénifra, a distance of 152 km in 4:12:02.

South Africa’s Arran Brown celebrates after winning Stage 4 of Tour du Maroc yesterday

South Africa’s Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg reigns in general classification after stage 4 followed by Morocco’s Adil Jelloul while the impressive Arran Brown is at position 4. Nathan Byukusenge of Rwanda is not far away and given the stiff competition, at 45 you wouldn’t be mistaken to say better times are ahead for the remaining 6 stages.

Stage 5 continues Tuesday as the athletes will cycle from Midelt  to Errachidia, a distance of 126 km.
