Nyamagabe Football

Football spectators at Nyagasenyi stadium in Nyamagabe district, Southern Province of Rwanda fell in shock when a crazy fan threw himself on the pitch during half time of the game between Nyanza FC and Amagaju FC. The two teams had met on the 9th day of the national football league.

At half time, the football fan who supporting Nyanza FC stormed the pitch and ran towards his team. Match officials including the referee demanded the fan to leave the pitch but refused. After realizing that the fan was quarrelling with the officials, Nyamagabe district Executive Secretary Nshimiyimana Jean Pierre ordered the Police to apprehend the fan in order to calm the situation. He was immediately rushed out of the stadium.

Football fans were left wondering why the fan stormed the pitch before the end of the game. Nyanza FC was leading by one goal to nil when the incident happened.

Nyanza football club condemned the arrest stating that there was no any other intention other than expressing his excitement due to the performance of his team. After the game, the fan was released.

The game ended Nyanza FC beating Amagaju FC by 2 goals to nil, hence recording their first victory in the 2011/2012 national football league season.
